Mar 5 – April 11, 2011 - Exhibition
An Exploration of Meaning by Meg Lee, Chris Collacott, Lawrence McDonald and Langara College students from Design Formation Program
Location: : Leigh Square community Arts Village, 2253 Leigh Square, Port Coquitlam.
Reception: Monday, March 28 at 6pm with artists in attendance. Everyone welcome. Free Admission.
This exhibition takes a contemporary look at the age old debate of “what is art?” It will be interpreted by artists and non-artists in their works to challenge perceptions of art in a world of reality television, microwave dinners and facebook status updates. Can a piece made by a self-proclaimed untrained artist using household paint and a can opener have meaning? What impact does technology and commercial design have on art? And who is qualified to interpret? These questions and more are explored with a touch of social satire, irony and play.
